PM Announces Rs 500 Cr. Financial Assistance for Odisha
Modi Praises Odisha Govt for Successfully Handling Cyclone Amphan
Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a preliminary financial assistance of Rs. 500 crore as advance for relief and restoration work in Odisha in the wake of cyclone Amphan.
The PM announced this assistance after a review meeting held with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and other senior officials.
PM also praised Naveen Patnaik and his team for efficiently facing cyclone Amphan.
The Prime Minister also reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken in Odisha.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook an aerial survey of cyclone Amphan affected areas in Odisha.
PM Modi was received by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal on arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport.
Accompanied by Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Modi conducted the aerial survey of the cyclone affected districts of Odisha.
The cyclone Amphan, which brushed past Odisha’s coast on Wednesday, has severely damaged houses, standing crops, electrical infrastructure and uprooted trees in many districts.
According to preliminary estimate, about 45 lakh people residing in 89 blocks of the State were affected by the cyclone.
Earlier today, the PM announced a financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 crore for immediate relief activities to West Bengal after making aerial survey of the affected areas.
